Installing Rustix Woodbrix™ Interlocking Wallcovering® is an easy task, using these tools:
- Tools Required: Multi Purpose Construction Adhesive
- Mallet - Wooden or Rubber
- Saw - Power or Hand
- Narrow Putty Knife
- Level or Laser Level or Chalk Line
Find the center of the area to be covered. Draw a vertical line in the center of the wall and another vertical line 4 inches from the center line. There are now two vertical lines on your work area. Strike a level line across the bottom of the area to be covered and you are ready to start your beautiful new wall.
Apply adhesive to one Woodbrix at a time and spread evenly using the putty knife. Begin applying your Woodbrix from the center line. Set the end of your first Woodbrix on the center vertical line and make sure the bottom is on your bottom level line.
Your second row of Woodbrix will start at the second vertical line (the 4 inch line). Set your first Woodbrix of the second row starting at the 4 inch line. The vertical seams should NOT line up with the first row. Continue alternating each row to achieve the staggered look of a brix wall. Use the mallet, as needed, to gently tap Woodbrix for tighter fit.
After your wall is complete, allow proper drying time for your adhesive before applying a finish to protect the look of your new wall.
We feel sure you will enjoy the warm, cozy feeling of your new Rustix Woodbrix™ wall will bring to your home.
FINISHING SUGGESTIONS
STAINING
Woodbrix are natural exposed wood. You can stain them any color you may desire or leave them as they are. If you elect to stain your Woodbrix, follow the instructions of the manufacturer and always test what the color will look like on a small area. Allow the stain to dry on the test piece before completing the project.
VARNISHING
Varnish can be applied to directly to Woodbrix or on top of stained Woodbrix. Follow the instructions of the manufacturer.
POLYURETHANE
When Woodbrix are to be used in areas where there may be excessive moisture - kitchen back splashes or in a bathroom, we suggest applying several thin coats of polyurethane. Water based polyurethane dries faster than oil based polyurethane. Follow the instructions of the manufacture that best meets your needs. |
